DownTown Mystic's 'The DownTown Demos' Release Offers Insight into Creative Process and Personal Resilience

Sha-La Music Inc. has announced the upcoming release of 'The DownTown Demos: AmeriKarma Demos & Final Versions' by DownTown Mystic, scheduled for December 20, 2024. This holiday release, distributed globally through The Orchard/Sony Music, offers fans and music enthusiasts a unique insight into the creative process behind the artist's career-defining 'AmeriKarma' album. The new album comprises 11 tracks, including final versions of four core songs from 'AmeriKarma': 'Live,' 'Shadow Walk,' 'Fly,' and 'When The Angels Sing.' Additionally, it features four demos and three bonus tracks, allowing listeners to compare the evolution of these songs from their initial conception to the final product.

DownTown Mystic's writer and producer, Robert Allen, shared the inspiration behind the project: 'I was recording a sync project and experimenting with some beats. There were 4 tracks out of about 15 that I kept coming back to. I eventually heard the possibilities and began to create melodies and then write lyrics.' This experimental approach led to the creation of the songs that would form the backbone of 'AmeriKarma.' The release of 'The DownTown Demos' is particularly significant as it celebrates Allen's personal journey through serious health challenges. The lead track 'Live' was written just 10 months before Allen was diagnosed with MDS, a pre-leukemia condition. He subsequently underwent a life-saving stem cell transplant in 2019. 'I guess I was trying to tell myself something. It's been a long, strange trip for sure and the one constant that kept me going was the music,' Allen reflected.

Many of the songs for 'AmeriKarma' were written during Allen's recovery and the COVID-19 quarantine period, adding depth and personal significance to the album. In 2022, Allen entered Shorefire Studios with drummer Steve Holley and bassist Paul Page to record the tracks that would become 'AmeriKarma.' The release of 'The DownTown Demos' caps off a remarkable year for DownTown Mystic. In 2024, the artist released the 'Rock'n'Roll 4 The Soul' album, followed by its companion 'Acoustic Sessions' EP, and the 'Better Day' Digital 45. All of these releases have charted on the NACC College Radio Charts, demonstrating the artist's consistent appeal and musical prowess.

To promote the new album, DownTown Mystic will release their first AI-generated video for the track 'Shadow Walk,' created by Joshua Elyashiv of the band SHIV. The video will be available on YouTube, with Jon Delange/Tinderbox Music handling the promotion. Looking ahead to 2025, DownTown Mystic shows no signs of slowing down. A new single, 'One More Chance,' is set for release on January 24, 2025, accompanied by another AI video. Fans can also look forward to 'The Wish' album in the spring. Additionally, DownTown Mystic's music will be featured in upcoming films 'Sovereign' and 'Everything's Going to Be Great,' further expanding the artist's reach.
