The release of DownTown Mystic's 'On E Street Remix' EP on April 3 represents a significant moment in rock history, featuring Bruce Springsteen's legendary E Street Band rhythm section recording together for another artist. Drummer 'Mighty' Max Weinberg and bassist Garry Tallent, both Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, provide the foundation for all six tracks on the EP, marking a rare occurrence outside their extensive work with Springsteen. This collaboration carries historical weight as it was recorded during the same period Weinberg and Tallent were shaping Springsteen's landmark 'Born in the USA' album, creating a direct connection to one of rock's most iconic eras.
DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen explains that working with these musicians fundamentally transformed his artistic development. Allen recalls trying to develop as a solo artist when making these recordings and notes that the experience of playing with Weinberg and Tallent changed everything for him. The EP includes several notable tracks, including the thought-provoking 'Way To Know,' the emotionally intense 'And You Know Why,' and the lead single 'Hard Enough,' which has already received substantial airplay on Worldwide Radio. The 'Hard Enough' video has surpassed 550,000 views on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=example123.
This release continues DownTown Mystic's creative momentum that began with 2023's 'AmeriKarma' album, which attracted over 3 million streams. Subsequent releases including 'RnR 4 The Soul' (2024), 'The Wish' (2025), and 'Mystic Highway' (2025) have further established the artist's distinctive approach to rock music. The artist's sync-licensing success has been particularly notable, with 'Way To Know' launching a career that has placed music in over 250 TV shows, beginning with 'The Voice.' This success reached a high point in 2025 with three songs placed in two major films: 'Sovereign' and 'Everything's Going To Be Great.'
The EP will be distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music and promoted at Non-Com/College Radio by Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music beginning April 7. Allen's primary objective for the project was to give the tracks a fresh sound while showcasing the brilliance of the two E Street musicians. Allen notes that if you want to make a rock statement, there's no better company than these legendary players, adding that E Street is probably the most famous street in rock history. Critical reception has been positive, with Stereo Stickman describing DownTown Mystic as delivering the unexpected in true rock fashion. College Radio Charts praised the artist for making rock that remembers its roots while sounding relevant today. The Big Takeover added that DownTown Mystic demonstrably keeps the very best company, referring to the legendary musicians featured on this historic recording.
