Paper Garden Records recording artists The Storm Windows today release a new single from their forthcoming LIVE album: 'There's a Reason for Saturday Nights.' The track was recorded live before an enthusiastic audience at Tank Studio in Burlington, Vermont on November 1, 2025, and is the first release on the PGRoots label, portending the upcoming full live album to be released on August 21.
The Storm Windows, known as purveyors (some say inventors) of 'Power-Folk,' have live performances described as the 'Folk Ramones' by Spin Magazine. Performing on the recording are the trio: Rob Mathews on guitar and vocals, Don Mathews on upright bass and vocals, and Erik Anderson on drums. The single is being released on the PGRoots label of Paper Garden Records and will be followed by the release of a full album, including on vinyl for those lucky enough to catch a live show this summer.
Audio for the track was produced and mixed by Ben Collett and Julia Rangel at Tank Recording Studios. As of today, links to the single are available on all major social media platforms. A pre-stream link is available at https://s.disco.ac/jhzdqpunzniw.
The Storm Windows take their name from a song title of musical hero John Prine, reflecting veteran musicians who have weathered storms and continue to sing about it. Critics have labeled their music 'New Americana – a blend of folk, rock and even jazz laced sonics.' The band plays both showcases and bar gigs, with upcoming tour dates listed on their website at thestormwindows.com.
